Programme Details
MSDA, in partnership with TETA and UIF, is currently running a Scuba Diving Skills Programme (SDSP). SDSP aims to recruit and train 100 candidates from various townships across South Africa. The SDSP is completed over a period of four months.
Candidates will receive the following internationally recognised certificate:
- Open Water Diver
- Advanced Open Water Diver
Specialities such as:
- Night and Limited Visibility Diving
- Wreck Diving
- Deep Diving
- Navigation
- Diver Stress and Rescue
- Dive Guide
- Science of Diving
The following SCUBA skills will be covered:
- Theory using Blended Learning approach (Classroom and Technology Based Learning)
- Physical fitness training
- Practical training to learn all scuba-related skills e.g. neutral buoyancy, mask clear, regulator purge and recovery, and many other important theoretical
- Candidates will be provided with good quality accommodation during their training period
- Candidates will be provided with meals during their training period
- Candidates will also be transported to all dive sites across South Africa
Each candidate will be provided with the following:
- Wet Suit
- Dive Computer
- Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD)
- Dive Booties
- Information Console
- Weight Belt
- Mask & Snorkel
- Regulator
- Dive Hood
- Dive Gloves
- Fins
- Care Products
Upon completing the training programme, each candidate will get to keep their diving gear.
The practical training will take place in the following three areas:
- Diving pools (depth between 3 m to 5 m)
- Lakes such as Miracle Water near Brits (up to 20 m)
- Sea (Dive depth depends on training)
